Children in Need  [19/11/2004 10:18:31]

Hi there Guys and Gals,

I was just wondering what others are doing in their centres to help raise money?

I perosnally have (foolishly) agreed to go for a leg waxing and if enough money was raised(and it was thanks to my Centre Manager) a Bikini Wax! and a Head Shaving!

Chris

Look within  [19/11/2004 19:14:42]

I wonder if this is the year I'll see a call centre donating resources or staff. Why is it always left to those outside our industry to run and staff this telethon?

Clearly some centres do!

from the Children in need section of the bbc website:

How do I volunteer to answer the 'phones on Appeal night?

All of the call centres are staffed by employees of local companies who have very generously volunteered their premises and facilities for the night; therefore we have no input as far as staffing arrangements are concerned. If you are a call centre manager and would like your site to get involved, please e-mail pudsey@bbc.co.uk for further details.

I have looked at 'volunteering' my staff and centre for comic relief in the past, but the minimum required technical specifications and resource pledge are quite specific and extensive, and I wasn't quite able to meet them.

Response centre  [19/11/2004 22:40:50]

Did Comic Relief a couple of times and Children in need twice.

All we did was Pizza and beer[1] + TV's on the calling floor.

Each time we had close to a 90% volunteer rate. Shame we really couldn't use that many people (Outsourcer, limited free seats on the night), great fun.

Would do it again at the drop of a hat.

Much appreciated  [20/11/2004 08:13:28]

I stand corrected, thank you for restoring my faith in human nature within our usually commercially ruthless chosen industry.
