SACKED!"!!!!!!  [27/6/2001 14:38:01]

I don't belive it....I went into work yesterday..they made me hang around for an hour as if nothing was wrong then they sacked me. Discrimination if you ask me, my team leader didn't like me from the moment I joined her team....the reason that was given is as follows:-

1) poor time keeping- ammounted as late comming and poor attendence

DEFENCE- I was NEVER late, and my only time off ill was due to migraines, which I explained when I joined the company, might be a problem..they said at that point it wouldn't become a problem. PLUS half the cal center take more time off than me in a week than I do in a month.

2) not hitting target- apparently i was doing sh1t!

DEFENCE- I was 153% to target over the last month! one of thehighest..IF NOT THE highest in the entire call center!

Can anyone see the logic in this?

I am writing a formal complaint. I dont expect my job back but I do expect some sort of an apology or something.

I was ready to make a formal complaint about my team leader about a month ago. now I wish I had :(

I am making a trip to the solicitors tommorrow....if anybody can think of something that might help, please let me know.

And a peice of advice to all managers....

discriminate if you dare,
why should you care?
its not like its your life,
but unfortunataly it is mine.
am I being one sided?
i couldnt tell,
for when all is done,
i am just scum

Thats the way I was left to feel. after all my hard work, my loyalty and my help I get the boot of a person who has almost every bloke in her pocket with the flash of an eye and a bend down near them wearing a stupidly skimpish skirt.

I didn't fall for it though, I am happy with my fianceé and THATS why she didnt like me. because if she wanted something she couldnt "BEND" me around her finger.

Sorry if this ruins your day, I am young enough to find another job, but plase for the sake of your staff, be nice, dont discriminate and dont be two faced.

Pass this to all of your bosses/staf who are managemnt and the call centre world will be a little bit nicer.

I will return..but no longer as a telemarketer.

Take care

Mike fitch

Sorry to hear that bad news...  [27/6/2001 14:43:06]

Mike, that's terrible news.

If they are sacking you, you should be aware of your rights. They should provide a reason for your dismissal. I'm no expert in employment law, but I suspect you have certain rights that you can exercise. Problem isthat they can make almost anything up. How long did you work for your current company, and were you on a rolling contract or something else (be aware that a lot of companies will terminate employees' jobs just before the 2 year mark as it avoids legislation over employment rights that kick in at the 2 year point).

Can't think what else to say, but try not to worry - a few weeks ago you were aiming high, asking about how to find better positions. Keep at it, if you aim for the sky you may just make it...

Your rights  [27/6/2001 16:06:15]

Hi Mike,

What horrendous news..........

Now, I will need to check the details with my employment law books...... and they are a little old but...

1. They need to give you verbal warnings first - and at least 7 days notice of their intention to this and the allowance of a person / union member to come with you to take notes at the meeting.

2. They then need to through the written warning stages and then, and only then can they fire you.

3. Only if there has been an element of gross misconduct can they fire you immediately.

4. Remember to collect any evidence of sales targets, time keeping, appraisals, etc. If you do not have them as you have left the company, get someone to try and get them for you asap.

5. Write everything they said to you down NOW, before you forget. People who attended the meeting, etc.

Good Luck and keep in touch and let us know how things progress.

thank you one and all!  [2/7/2001 09:36:23]

Thank you for for kind comments!

I am in the process of talking to a lawyer and have actually let them know i am going to appeal. I am trying feverishly to get hold of sales records, i have about 10 people looking out for anything i could use asevedence! ;) in the mean time, i gotta find a job or face being very poor in the not so near future :( Although I know its not my fault, i feel responsible myself and this is what the major problem is. I just dont seem to be motivated at the moment..veryunlike me.

ah well,

i'll keep you posted as always,

thanks again,

mike

How did you get on ??  [26/7/2001 11:51:25]

Hi Mike,

Just wanted to know how you were getting on ? Have you got a new job ? Have you spoken to your lawyer about the unfair dismissal and what did he say ?

Did you do as Lindsay suggested ? Did you get all your reports from your jobsaying that you were a star member of staff ??

Let us know your next steps........ and let them be BOLD ones too......

Jane
