Small business call centre outsourcing to India  [12/5/2003 14:54:45]

We are an SME offering good quality outsourced fulfilment services including CRM in the UK. We are looking to reduce our costs and improve servicing? India is being investigated. I've been informed by a large US company that my 400K inbound calls per year would not have much value in the Indian call centre market. Apparently the volume is far too low to make it pay there because of the high level of capital investment needed to support these services?

I'm curious... is it true , are there absolutely no call centres at in India that will consider a lower number of seats or wish to negotiate?

Does business consolidation/shared cost not apply in any of these businesses or is it that it's not necessary???

Can anyone offer any advice on this matter if so would love to hear from you or if you have had similar experiences in getting attached to the Indian call centre market?

Many thanks

Chris

Hello Chris,

I think you got some incorrect information there. 400K calls per year is a pretty decent size to deserve consideration of offshore outsourcing. You will be looking for mid-sized to large Call Centres in India. I will be happy to provide more inputs if required.

Cheers, Manoj Matai

I have to agree with Mr. Matai, that is a considerable operation, one that many call centers in India would roll out the red carpet for. I would like to offer my assistance in helping you place that project. I have the offshore(India) contacts and will be able to get the best rates.

400,000 calls a year...  [12/5/2003 23:53:36]

Hi Chris,

Correct me if I'm wrong but 400,000 calls a year would translate to a little more than 46 calls an hour/day if you need 24/7 support.

I would think that there would be a number of rooms in India willing to work on this model and if not for the "no advertising" rule, I would have pitched for my room as well. ;)

Hi Chris

By how much are you looking to reduce the cost of operation and improve service?

Others have found that by using our service to route an deliver calls they can cut costs by upto 40%.

Drop me mail with your number so we can have a chat in a bit more detail on what you are looking for.

Kind regards,

Paul

Not entirely true. Setting up a call center from scratch just for this purpose would turn out to be quite expensive, however, most of the existing call centers will have resources they would be able to allocate for your project.

You will definetly find many companies vying for your project. In my opinion it would be better to stick with a company that has existing projects, than go for a company that has none at present and is trying to enter the market. The call center industry is all about nurturing relationships with your clients and their customers!. Always helps to choose a company that does this well.
