New Start  [7/11/2001 12:50:50]

I am starting in a new department tomorrow at very short notice, i.e I was told today. Me and another Team Leader are swapping over departments, fresh eyes and all that !

I haven't had much time to prepare, has anyone had to transfer to a new department and what did you do that was good to fit in quickly, I am not particulay worried about the systems etc as I can get them as I go along, it is mainly the people side of things I would like some advice on.

Common sense tells me to that I should be honest, involved, interested in work that is being done but my employees, show leadership, be yourself.

The fact that the management has choosen you to take the lead is a compliment. They've obviously seen something in you that makes them believe you are able to do the job.
