I've seen a few websites that have hired an outsourcer to handle very basic chats for them for people who are on their website and direct them to portions of the website that can assist them.
Maybe that's a website receptionist?

Thats a strange job title, it does sound like someone who would handle the general enquiries for a business' website. I would imagine that it would not handle really specific or technical enquiries just general information.
